HTC, MiTAC Target European GPS PDA Market
September 02, 2005

Forecasting a sales volume of six million units for GPS PDAs in Europe this year and a four-fold growth rate in North America, MiTAC will be unveiling a PDA phone with built-in GPS that provides a 1.3M megapixel digital camera and Bluetooth for short-distance transmission. Following MiTAC, HTC also plans to launch GPS-enabled PDAs targeted at the European market, which is experiencing high demand for GPS handhelds. Unlike MiTAC's PDAs, which feature phone functionality and various map data, Galaxy is simply a GPS PDA with support for existing map data. HTC Galaxy will go on sale under Qtek brand in Europe.
